Miravone Dorough, ND, DO
Dr. Miravone Dorough is a functional medicine doctor in the Chicago suburb area. Dr. Miravone graduated with her doctorate in both Chiropractic and Naturopathic Medicine at National University of Health Sciences. Some of her post-graduate training is in pediatrics, nutrition, mental and emotional health, acupuncture, and functional rehabilitation as well as various myofascial techniques.
One of her great interests is supporting women through pregnancy, labor and delivery, postpartum care, and breastfeeding, as well as pediatric care and wellness. Her mini-adult patients call her, Dr. Mimi.
Her love for holistic health started as a child. Dr. Miravone grew up surrounded by herbs, oriental medicine, and home-cooked Laotian meals. The impact of straying from this lifestyle that she was raised in became starkly apparent. Dr. Miravone started to see the toll that medications, processed foods, and a sedentary lifestyle had on her life. Her mental health was also impacted and she developed a panic disorder in her later teens leading into early college years. The impact these lifestyle changes had on her body greatly affected her, and after being treated by a functional doc, she decided to make a change.
While working towards her Chiropractic doctorate, Dr. Miravone started to take some Naturopathic classes and instantly knew her calling. Within all of her life experiences, her passion grew deeper, she made the necessary changes in her own life, and has fully experienced the power of Naturopathic medicine.
Food is Dr. Miravone’s love language. She wants to show patients how to achieve health goals, gain food freedom, and break the cycle of shame in all of it. She loves being able to help patients use food as medicine and guide her pediatric patients to develop healthier relationships with food.
Dr. Miravone truly believes in restoring health by utilizing non-invasive therapies, such as botanical medicine, nutritional counseling, vitamin and mineral supplementation, homeopathy, hydrotherapy, acupuncture, various myofascial release techniques, and chiropractic manipulation.
She wholeheartedly believe in “Doctor as teacher” and that education can empower people of all ages and walks of life to take charge of their health and live optimally!
In her free time, Dr. Miravone loves spending time with her three kids, husband, and many animals including a flock of chickens! She loves staying active, spending time outside in nature, and traveling whenever the opportunity arises. The best form of relaxation for her is sitting on my front porch with a cup of warm coffee and a good book!
Dr. Miravone can’t wait to meet you and help you on your journey.
